We design bespoke exercise programs for groups and individuals.
It is often said “exercise is medicine”. In many chronic medical conditions, in fact, if you exercise well, you will need less medicine.
Exercise prescription requires a detailed understanding of pathology, biomechanics and physiology of adaptation. We have the requisite expertise and experience designing exercises for diverse clinical needs. We also love to develop exercises for health promotion purposes, which enable people not only to get well, but to stay well.
What is involved in exercise prescription?
We will take a comprehensive medical history, assess your movement and coordination, and most importantly, your own goals and preferences, to customise a program that addresses your needs and fits in your lifestyle. For example, a postnatal recovery program will have a different focus to one that treats chronic low back pain, even though core muscle activation is a common component.
We will send you a written plan and your own set of exercise videos to make sure you are performing the right movements and appropriate numbers of sets and repetitions.
If you invest, expect a return on investment
We will discuss your goals and how we expect to get there. Your time is precious, and since you invest the time doing the exercises, we will periodically and quantitatively assess whether we hit milestones and help you stay on track to achieving those goals.
Evolve your exercises as you evolve
Much like a medical prescription, you should review and change your exercises as you change – in exercise prescription, this often means as your symptoms subside, your strength and endurance improve, we need to make it more challenging.
Enjoy your exercises, not endure them
Well designed and progressed exercises are enjoyable to practice, not something to comply with. Don’t treat your exercise programs like a sentence to a labour camp. Well designed exercise programs should be fun and something to look forward to each day.
Here are some of the exercise programs we offer:
Steady feet reduce fall risks
Indispensable for independence
Exercise to slow curve progression
Move better and look better
Flowing your movement
Better abs, better pelvic floor
