Ergonomics

Ergonomics is derived from Greek, ergon ‘work’, on the pattern of economics, as in the study of work. Ergonomics is much broader than high-low desks and split keyboards. It is the rational  and scientific optimisation of work.

While many think of acute trauma (such as a fall) as workplace injuries, however, cumulative trauma or repetitive strain disorders, or stress (can be physical or mental) are by far the majority of today’s workplace injuries.

This is why, a comprehensive analysis of a work activity, includes their physical characteristics, cognitive processes and load, organisational design, and inherent stress level etc.

Sound ergonomics is not only about reducing symptoms and injuries, but also to improve productivity and personal wellbeing, so the work fits and benefits you the individual human being and your organisation in general.
