We provide waterproof fracture cast, cam boots, cast shoes, etc, and manage fracture recovery in collaboration with your doctor. We also offer postoperative rehabilitation where surgical fixation was needed.
What is wrong with traditional plaster cast?
Traditional plaster cast is brittle and heavy, and needs to be kept dry. It tends to smell and itch as sweat and dead skin build up. This is especially difficult to manage in summer, and patients come up with ingenious ways to scratch the itch, with chop sticks, forks, etc, causing damage to the skin under the cast.
Fracture cast that you can shower in
New waterproof underlay and polymer resin cast weigh a fraction of traditional plaster cast, and makes it possible to shower everyday. You can even go swimming in it. They are much lighter, and allow water to run through, without affecting the immobilisation of the healing bone.
This is a welcome choice for patients of all ages, and we have countless parents thanking us for making it easy to care for the children’s injuries.
While a comfortable cast or cam boot make for a great patient experience, guided rehabilitation and functional training are essential for an optimal clinical recovery, to help you move well and stay well.
